    Fruity, Sweet & Complex

    A tropical voyage of peach and dried apricot on the nose. Toffee first and foremost on the palate, with notes of barley malt, gingerbread, tropical fruits, honeyed pipe tobacco leaves, black pepper, roasted chestnut and freshly cut hay.

    This whisky is from one of the leading independent Japanese distillers, Ichiro Akuto, founder and master distiller of Chichibu (and heir to the Hanyu family of distillers)

    It has been around for the better part of a decade, and has always included malt whisky from Chichibu, blended with whiskies from unidentified distilleries in the USA, Canada, Scotland and Ireland.

    The foreign whiskies are reportedly aged in casks in their home countries for 3-5 years, and then the whisky is shipped to Japan and aged for another 1-3 years at Chichibu distillery. The proportion of malt to grain in the final blend is unknown, as are the relative country contributions.

    Sweet, Spicy & Dry

    The journey begins with a hint of chamomile. Sweet, fruity flavours of melon, grapefruit and thick syrup follow, balanced by crunchy biscuits and fresh vanilla.

    Signature grain whisky, released in 2012.

    Predominantly made from corn, the whisky distilled in a Coffey still is matured in old casks such as re-filled, remade and re-charred casks originally made from American oak to deliver the sweet and mellow flavours of Coffey distillates.

    *The Coffey still is the world’s first patented continuous still invented by Aeneas Coffey in 1830.

    Sweet | Smooth | Addictive

    At the nose, Nikka Coffey Malt is a symphony of vanilla: creme brûlée, ice cream and custard, and freshly made caramel.

    At the palate, more outstanding vanilla and desiccated coconut. The buttery shortbread sticks around, and a little hint of orange lead to the finish.

    The finish is buttery and long, with a great aftertaste and malty goodness.

    This unique expression was developed in 2013 due to Nikka's continuous experiments to widen the variety and offer more excitement to aficionados. Made from 100% malted barley, whisky distilled in a Coffey still is matured in old casks to enhance the rich maltiness, complexity and silky texture. This expression is not categorised as "malt whisky" but as "grain whisky" since it is not distilled in a pot still.
