Bourbon Flight

  • TASTING NOTES:

    Sweet | Dry | Fruity

At the nose, Wild Turkey Longbranch is intensely oaky and with more smoke than commonly found in bourbon. It has aromas of charred corn, drippy oak resin and smooth toffee.

At the palate, it's a medium body. Dry, despite the sweet aroma notes. Tons of oak, heavy root notes (root beer, sassafras, etc.), and balanced charcoal. The finish is long. Most palate notes continue through the finish and fade slowly without getting bitter.

Wild Turkey's Longbranch is the tasty result of a collaboration between master distiller Eddie Russell and the distillery's creative director, who just so happens to be Matthew McConaughey. It's made with eight-year-old Wild Turkey bourbon and combines elements from the creator's home state, using charcoal made of Kentucky white oak and Texas mesquite to filter the liquid. As a result, this bourbon ticks all of the boxes while having a little "extra" in mesquite charcoal and derived mild-smoke flavours.

  • TASTING NOTES:

    Bold | Smooth | Rich

At the nose, Wild Turkey Rare Breed initially has deep dark chocolate fudge: concentrated caramel-y oak, root beer, and butterscotch. A robust dry oakiness balances the sweet notes. At the palate, it’s medium-bodied, not quite syrupy. Smoky cocoa nibs, dark roast coffee beans, dry oak, fresh hay, toasted oats, and red cinnamon hots follow a hearty tongue burn. Long finish that fades very slowly into a ghost of menthol and black pepper.

Rare Breed is Wild Turkey’s approach to the fairly-standard “Small Batch, Cask Strength” expression that you’ll find in most distillery lineups. Rare Breed is made from a batch of Wild Turkey Kentucky straight bourbon aged in number 4 char bourbon barrels for 6, 8, and 12 years and bottled at cask strength.

Wild Turkey is now using only non-GMO grains (75% corn, 13% rye, 12% barley) in its mash bills.

  • TASTING NOTES:

    Rich | Complex | Bold

At the nose, Wild Turkey Kentucky Spirits is a mix of spice and sweet scents introduce the sip with satisfying intensity. Equal parts rye and cinnamon spice combine against a base of caramel, honey, and citrus to form a balanced aroma. Echoes of leather, tobacco, and toffee play in the background, but are faint even with a deep inhale. At the palate, the bourbon is full-bodied and surprisingly rich even for its 101 proof, the sip lands with a splash of rye spice. Quite complex with plenty of character, the bourbon’s palate shines.

Wild Turkey Kentucky Spirit (a blend of 75% Corn, 13% Rye, 12% Malted Barley) is a single barrel bourbon, which means no two barrels will be exactly alike. The bourbon is aged 8 Years.

First released in 1994, it is said to be the second single barrel bourbon to hit the market. Single barrels are selected by the creator, and in some cases offered as private selection barrels that were pre-selected by the Russells for inclusion in the single barrel selection program.
